MAI MOTION · MOTION CAPTURE · BIOLOGICAL AGE

How old are you really?

Your chronological age tells you how long you've been alive. Your Motion Age tells you how your body is actually performing — based on how you move, not when you were born.

CHRONOLOGICAL vs BIOLOGICAL

The age you were born vs the age you actually move at.

Motion Age is a biological age score derived entirely from how you move. Using 15 tracked keypoints at 120 frames per second, MAI Motion captures your movement signature and compares it against age-matched population norms — producing a single number that reflects your functional biological age. Most members see a Motion Age significantly below their chronological age within 16 weeks of training.

HOW IT WORKS · THE TECHNOLOGY

Four layers, one score.

MAI Motion uses a four-layer pipeline to turn raw movement into a clinically meaningful age score — every step validated, every output reproducible.

01
CAPTURE
3D Mesh Technology
Markerless 3D motion capture — no suits, no sensors, no preparation. The system creates a full volumetric mesh of your body from standard video, tracking 15 keypoints at 120 fps across every plane of movement.
02
REFERENCE
Volumetric MRI
Each movement signature is cross-referenced against a library of volumetric MRI data, allowing MAI to compare your motion patterns not just against other video captures, but against validated anatomical benchmarks.
03
ANALYSIS
AI Decision Support
An AI decision support layer processes your movement data against age-stratified norms — identifying deviations, asymmetries, and range limitations that correlate with biological ageing patterns.
04
TRACKING
Longitudinal
Every scan is stored and compared against previous captures. As you train, re-scan to track exactly how your Motion Age is changing — not estimated, not inferred, measured.
TWO WAYS IN · CLINIC OR APP

Start in the clinic. Continue in your pocket.

Your first Motion Age assessment is always in clinic — a supervised session with a trained clinician at Harley Street. Re-scans can be completed in-clinic or at home using the MAI Motion app.

SELF-ADMINISTERED · TRACKING RE-SCANS

After your baseline clinic session, re-scans can be completed at home using the MAI Motion app. The same capture pipeline, the same keypoints, the same age-matching — from your phone.

FEATURES · WHAT MAI DOES

Connecting motion to life.

MAI Motion does more than produce a score. It connects movement data to your wider regeneration pathway — so every session, every protocol, every recommendation is grounded in how you actually move.

FEATURE 01
Markerless capture

No wearables, no suits, no calibration. Walk into the scan room and move naturally — the system does the rest.

FEATURE 02
Longitudinal tracking

Each re-scan is compared against your baseline and all previous scans. The trend is what matters — watch your Motion Age fall session by session.

FEATURE 03
Physician review

Your Motion Age report is reviewed by a clinician, not just generated by an algorithm. Flags, recommendations, and protocol adjustments are included.

FEATURE 04
Pathway integration

Your Motion Age flows directly into your PhD pathway. Every Optimise session is informed by what your scan data shows about how your body is currently moving.

WHO IT IS FOR · USE CASES

Built for the body, used by the field.

Motion Age is relevant at every level of performance and every stage of life — whether you're optimising, recovering, or just starting to understand how you move.

FOR MEMBERS
Regen PhD members

Your Motion Age is the starting point of your PhD pathway. Use it to establish your baseline, set a target, and track exactly how your body is responding to your programme — session by session, scan by scan.

FOR CLINICIANS
Clinical teams

MAI Motion gives clinicians an objective, repeatable measure of functional age to sit alongside blood biomarkers and subjective assessment. No special equipment required — just a calibrated scan space.

FOR RESEARCH
Researchers

A validated, longitudinal measure of biological age based on movement — usable across populations, reproducible across sites, and directly comparable to chronological and other biological age markers.

QUESTIONS · ANSWERED

Common questions.

How is Motion Age different from other biological age tests?+

Most biological age tests are based on blood biomarkers or epigenetic data. Motion Age is derived entirely from how your body moves — making it a unique functional measure that captures what blood tests cannot: how your musculoskeletal system is actually performing.

How long does the scan take?+

The MAI Motion scan session takes around 20–30 minutes, including arrival, a brief movement protocol, and initial results review. Your full Motion Age report with clinician notes is available the same day.

What movements are captured?+

The scan captures a standardised movement protocol covering gait, range of motion across major joints, balance, and functional movement patterns. The protocol is the same for every patient — ensuring comparability across scans and against the population norm database.

How often should I re-scan?+

For members on an active training programme, we recommend a re-scan every 4–6 weeks. This cadence is sufficient to capture meaningful change in Motion Age without over-testing. Your Regen OS dashboard will recommend your next scan date based on your current trend.

Can I get a Motion Age scan without a full Regen PhD membership?+

Yes — MAI Motion scans are available as a standalone service at £175 per session. Your results are still encoded into your Regen OS dashboard, and you can upgrade to a full PhD pathway at any time.
